Sue’s asking all of those questions, and some of us had questions about whether we would be able to get those points with what we had!
Day One
Our Monastery Coordinator, Sue Murphy, created three fun days of games and snacks during the Christmas Octave! On this first day, the game was Alter Ego. We had a sheet of paper with five boxes, and in each box we were given a certain number of points if we were able to answer questions such as: Are you wearing green? Do you have Christmas socks on? Have you eaten any candy today? or Do you have the letters of the word Christmas in your first and last names? When all the points in each box were totaled, the box that had the highest totaled number was the box that was your Christmas Alter Ego. The alter egos were a reindeer, a Christmas tree, an elf, Santa, or a snowman! The snacks enjoyed during this party were hot cocoa (with an addition, if desired!) and Chex mix.
Sue’s showing us a picture of the Christmas tree alter ego as she goes through the each one of the five boxes. The box we had the highest total number in was our Christmas alter ego!

Day 2
On Day 2, there was a lot of activity! The party began as each sister who wanted to took a plain sugar cookie tree and the colors of frosting she desired and decorated her cookie. Then a partnered game of unscrambling mixed up Christmas words began! There was a lot of quietly puzzling out words, a few hints, and much laughter! Finally, each sister decorated a snow “woman” with her picture for the face. The snack for this party was the decorated Christmas tree cookie and hot chocolate (with an add on, if desired!).
This scrambled word was “stocking”!

Day 3
On day 3, the game was “name three things you think of” for 26 questions such as:
-
What keeps you warm in the winter?
-
What gifts do you remember getting ?
-
What are some uses for snow?
-
What things do you find under the Christmas tree?
-
What can be found on the top of the Christmas tree?
-
What do you make during the Christmas season?
-
What are some other names for Santa Claus?
Sue started with one person and went around the room so that all could share answers that hadn’t already been said. With 26 questions, each of us got at least one turn to be “first”. The snack for this day was hot cocoa with the add in, if desired, and all kinds of delicious fresh fruit!
Sister Kathleen is sharing her answers with all of us!
